Bangladesh Cricket League: South Zone make good reply against East Zone

A brilliant century by Mosaddek Hossain enabled South Zone to make a good reply against East Zone on the 3rd day of the four-day first class match of last round of Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium on Wednesday.
Replying to East Zone mammoth first innings total of 442 runs featuring a century by Alok Kapali (111), South Zone resumed the first inning with 101 for 2 in 30 overs and piled up 420 runs for 6 in 122 overs at the end of the day with middle order Mosaddek Hossain makes a century scoring not out 102 off 194 balls featuring nine fours and a six
After the departure of two top order batsmen for 68 runs, two night watch batsmen– Shahriar Nafees pairing with two down Tushar Imran–contributed 131 runs in the 3rd wicket stand.
Shahriar Nafees, who was in batting with 36 runs, made 90-run off 170 balls featuring 13 boundaries while another night watch batsman Tushar Imran ( 23) scored 78 runs off 132 balls hitting 10 fours and two sixes.
Besides, Farhad Reza scored 72 runs playing 124 balls including four fours and five sixes and all rounder Shohag Gazi hit 45-ball 21 runs with a boundary, were other scorers for South Zone.
Nazmul Islam captured two wickets for 130 runs while Tasamul Haque, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Iftekhar Sajjad took one wicket each.
In the day’s another league match, North Zone took an overall 205-run lead against Central Zone on the 3rd-day of the four-day affairs at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
Replying to North Zone first innings total 378 runs, table topper Central Zone resumed the first innings with overnight total 222 for 6 in 60 overs and were all out for 306 runs in 91.2 overs featuring 78 runs in the 4th wicket stand by Raquibul Hasan and Shuvagoto Hom.
Two down Raquibul Hasan hammered 100-ball 63 runs with nine fours, number five Shuvagoto Hom made a half century scoring 660ball 51 runs including six fours, mOsharraf Hossain hit 82-ball 47 runs with eight fours.
Besides, Tanvir Haider (35), Marshal Ayub (34), Saikat Ali (21) and Shrifullah (20) were the other main scorers for Central Zone.
Ariful Haque, Mahmudul Hasan and Shafaq Al Zabir grabbed three wicket each conceding 43, 53 and 55 runs respectively.
In reply, North Zone opened the 2nd innings and scored 133 for 3 in 40.3 overs when stumps were drawn for the 3rd day (Wednesday) to take an overall 205 runs lead over Central Zone.
One down Nazmul Hassan Shanta (not out 50), Farhad Hossain (33), Mahmudul Hasan (29) and Mysukur Rahman ((18) were the notable contributors for North Zone.
Tanvir Haider, Mohammad Sharif and Mosharraf Hossain took one wicket each conceding 1, 27 and 48 runs respectively.
