People from a vast area under Dhaka South City Corporation have been suffering for long due to dilapidated road condition from Tikatuli to Jurain-Postogola.
The entire road is found rundown with numbers of pathos, posing threat to vehicular movement.
Besides, the speed breakers on the road are seen remaining without marker, also creating risk of accidents.
A speed breaker at Swamibagh on the road, yards distance from Tikatuli’s Rajdhani Super Market, is remaining without marker.
Similarly, many others speed breakers are on the road till the Postogola point, also remaining without marker for long.
The road Doyagonj to Jurain-Postogola area is mostly dilapidated and full of cracks and holes.
The condition of road is seriously worse in Mirhajirbagh area. Numbers of big and medium sized holes make the road in serious hazardous.
The condition of Doyagonj to Dholaipar is beyond description. This road is not fit for walking even. Every yard of the portion of the road is dangerous for vehicular movement.
Drivers of different types of vehicles also frequently face accidents as there is no sufficient space to overtake any vehicles.
Different types of vehicles, including truck, private car, leguna, taxi, rickshaw and motorbikes ply on the road with a speed as it is connected with Mawa road, which leads towards Khulna, Barishal, Faridpur and Gopalgonj.
“As it is a busy road and the vehicles run so fast, no one wants to give side to other to overcome,” said Ahmed Hossain, a resident of Keranigonj using the road regularly from his Motijheel office.
He said, “I stay with serious panic of accident when cross the street riding on my bike every night after my office duty.”
Drivers of private cars, CNG driven taxis and legunas also expressed their bitter experiences about the street.
Due to the worse condition of the road some accidents have already taken place in past months. Most of the accidents have taken place due to the worse condition of the road. As a result, vehicular movements are frequently stopping by the local people.
Passengers of different public vehicles urged the authority concerned to repair the road before any massive accident occurs.
