The South Asian Region Basketball Qualifiers of Dhaka Bank FIBA Asian Champions Cup begins tomorrow at Dhanmondi Basketball Gymnasium in the city.
Bangladesh Basketball Federation will arrange the basketball meet under supervision of South Asian Basketball Association. Dhaka Bank is the title sponsor of the basketball competition.
Marking the upcoming basketball competition, a press conference was held at the Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium in Bangladesh Olympic Association Bhaban on Sunday.
President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) and President of Bangladesh Medical Association Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, MP, Vice-President of Dhaka Bank Limited Khondker Anwar Ehtesham, General Secretary of BBF Lieutenant Commander (Retd) AK Sarker were present, among others.
Hosts Bangladesh, Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bhutan will compete in the Qualifiers.
The champions and the runners-up will get the tickets of the second phase of the final round.
State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder will inaugurate the basketball competition as the chief guest, while Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association Syed Shahed Reza will be with him as the special guest.
Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, AK Sarker and the officials of Dhaka Bank Limited will be present at the time.
