Tigers’ fans will be earnestly waiting for the South African cricketers who arrive on Tuesday (July 30) to play two Tests in Bangladesh in July and August as part of a tour that will also feature three one-day internationals and two Twenty20 internationals.
Bangladesh cricketers are in cloud nine with thumping 3-0 ODI win over hapless Pakistan and almost repeated their onslaught against mighty India but in the end winning the first ever ODI by 2-1 margin. It was Tigers first ever ODI series win over two former World Champions India and Pakistan.
Local Cricket pundits believes South Africa will be a tough nut to crack and it will also be acid test for Bangladesh whether they can win ODI series against the inform South Africa.
The tour will begin with two Twenty20 internationals in Dhaka’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on July 5 and July 7.
The first two 50-over games will be on July 10 and 12, also at the Sher-e-Bangla. The third and final ODI is scheduled at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in the port city of Chittagong on July 15.
The same venue will host the first Test from July 21-25. The Proteas, who have a comfortable lead at the top of the world Test rankings, will play their final match of their tour when they take on host Bangladesh in the second Test at the Sher-e-Bangla from July 30 to August 3.
The South African tour will follow visits by Pakistan and India in April and June.
Australia are also expected to travel to Bangladesh in October for two Tests.
