AFP, Melbourne :
South Africa have been fined for a slow over-rate during Sunday’s World Cup 130-run defeat against India at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the International Cricket Council said.
Match referee Jeff Crowe found the South Africans fell one over short in the stipulated time and docked skipper AB de Villiers 20 percent of his match fee and 10 percent for the rest of the team.
“In accordance with the ICC Code of Conduct for minor over-rate offences, players are fined 10 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time, with the captain fined double that amount,” a release from the governing body said.
