Southpaw opener Soumya Sarkar made a stormy return as he hit his maiden half century in the T20I format against Sri Lanka in the first match of the two-match T20I series at Sher-e-Bangla national Cricket Stadium at Mirpur on Thursday.
The left-handed batsman put away Shehan Madushanka for a four and six in the very first over.
Soumya completed his fifty runs from just 30 balls and eventually scored 51 runs before he was trapped leg before wicket by Jeevan Mendis after providing his team to a blistering start.
He smashed six boundaries and two over boundaries during his brief 32-ball knock.
Earlier, the 25-year old batsman Soumya was not considered in the tri-nation series and two-match Test series against Sri Lanka for his bad form.
