A Chittagong court in a verdict here on Thursday sentenced a son to life term imprisonment for killing his mother in Mirarsari upazila of the district. Additional Chittagong district Session Judge Nur-e- Alam pronounced the verdict convicting one Jashim Uddin, for killing his Mother Waiz Khatun, wife of late Nur Ahmed, in 2005. The prosecution story, in brief that Jashim hit his mother to death over family feud, at Moghadia village of Mirsari upazila on November 24 in 2005.
Later, victim’s eldest son Ziaul Hoque filed a murder case with Mirarsari Police Station against Jashim Uddin. Police submitted charge-sheet on February 17 in 2006 and the court framed charges against him on January 29 in 2009. The court after examining 12 out of 17 prosecution witnesses awarded the judgement convicting Jasim Uddin in his absentia. Jashim has been absconding soon after the killing of his mother.
