Kazi Sayeed (55) of village Kodalia under Mollarhat Upazila in the district was killed brutally by his own son Kazi Tuhin (27) in his own residence on Tuesday in the early hours. The killer son was arrested by the police.
According to killer son, his father Kazi Sayeed was addicted to gambling. Due to this pecuniary insolvency had been prevailing in the family. The son tried to refrain his father from gabling, but in vain. On the other hand, the father did not arrange any marriage for his son So, the son decided to kill his father and according to the decision, on Tuesday in the early hours the son hit a number of blows on the head of his father with a chopping implement known as Chapati.
As a result, the father sustained fatal injuries on his head. On the same night the other members of the family at first admitted him to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex for treatment. Later he was shifted to Gopalganj Sadar Hospital and from there to Khulna Medcial College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries in the after noon on Tuesday.
It is learnt from the locals that both the killer son and the deceased father were farmers. It is also leant from them that the son was earlier got married. But the wife left him as he was idle and used to earn nothing.
In this connection a case was lodged with the local PS and police arrested the killer son.
