A drug addicted son allegedly stabbed to kill an elderly man at Mathuapara village under Jhikargachha upazila in Jessore on Wednesday night.
Abu Saleh Mohammad Masud Karim, officer in-charge, Jhikargachha police station said Babar Ali, 70, of Mathuapara village under Jhikargachha upazila in Jesssore was killed by his son Anwarul Islam,35 as he refused to give him money for having drug at around 9pm on Wednesday,
Rafiqul Islam, member, Gadkhali union council told newsmen that the elderly man was hacked and killed by his son Anwarul Islam as he did not give him (killer) money, was demanded by him for having drug at his residence. ‘The killer was put on safe custody thrice earlier,’ he added.
The man died on way to Jessore General Hospital after being wounded seriously at around 9pm on Wednesday, Nazrul Islam, nephew of the victim told.
The accused was arrested by the police, said the OC. Post mortem operation of the dead was made at Jessore General Hospital.
