Father killed by son in conflict over marriage at Hatempur area of Patharghata upazila of Barguna on Tuesday.
The killer son fled from the area after the incident, but police later succeeded to arrest him.
Police sub-inspector Shahidul Islam of Patharghata police station said they went to the hospital after receiving the news and recovering the dead body from Patharghata Upazila Health Complex, sent to Barguna General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Abul Bashar , officer in charge of Patharghata Police arrested the killer son. Legal action will be taken if a case is filed on behalf of the family, police source added.
Radha Rani, wife of murdered Niranjan Shil (58), said they had a land dispute with her step-sister in law named Beauty. That is why Beauty and her husband Prakash, encourages nephew Nepal Shil (26) to get married and select and choose a girl.
But Beauty demanded to convince his father for writing ownership of the disputed land if his son wants to marry that girl.
However, Nepal’s father Niranjan Shil refused the proposal of giving the land for marrying his son with the girl proposed by Beauty.
This created conflict between father and son and on Tuesday morning , at one point in the altercation, Nepal hit on head of his father with a broken pole of a table .
Family members after rescuing Niranjal Shil , brought to Patharghata upazila health complex. But the doctor on duty referred him to Barishal Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital for better treatment. However he died on the way shortly after the ambulance left health complex for Barishal SBMCH and then came back.
