A man was chopped to death allegedly by his mother at Jhanora village in Barura upazila on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Jasim Uddin, 35, a son of late Abdul Malek of the village.
Locals said Jasim had been suffering from mental problems since long and he sometimes used to beat up his mother.
Hearing scream of Jasim, neighbours rushed in the house and found the body of Jasim lying on the floor when his mother Jahanara Begum, 55, was standing with a blood-stained machete (da).
