A court in Kurigram on Sunday sentenced son Zeaur Rahman 29 for life term rigorous imprisonment to killing his father and fined Tk. ten thousand
In default three months more RI.Kurigram district and session judge Golam Morshed handed down the verdict in the evening on Wednesday.
Court sources said the son Zeaur Rahman made an altercation with his father about taking Gool(tobacco) at Jamuna Fakirpara village under Ulipur upazila in the district on June 17,2007. At one stage of their altercation Zeaur Rahman hit on the head of his father Abed Ali with a hammer.
The father was killed on the spot. The wife of the deceased and mother of son Amina Khatun filed a murder case with Ulipur thana next day following the incident.
Public Prosecutor (PP)advocate Abraham Lincoln conducted the case on behalf of the plaintiff while advocate Abdul Based Mondol stood before the accused.
