‘Somodhara’ poetry festival pledges to enrich Bengali literature

A unique poetry festival was held in the capital on Thursday with an urgency to enrich the reservoir of Bengali literature patronizing the poets of the twenty first century.
The day-long inspirational poetry festival, featured by poetry recitation, award-giving, discussion and unveiling of books, brought together some 200 poets from Bangladesh and India.
Poetry defined by William Wordsworth as “spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings” set the mood of the festival as poets recited poetry to utter satisfaction of the audience.
Held in the auditorium of Shilpakala Academy, Somodhara, a monthly magazine, organized the festival for the third time titled “Somodhara Kobita (poem) Utsab-2017”.
Renowned Poet Nirmalendu Goon has been awarded “Somodhara Shahitya (literacy) Puroshkar-2017” for his outstanding contribution in poetry.
The programme witnessed unveiling of the cover of a book named “Podabolir Jatthra” which contains poems of 200 poets.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor addressed the festival as the chief guest while poet Muhammad Nurul Huda inaugurated it.
Poet Helal Hafiz and Islami Bank Vice-Chairman Professor Syed Ahasanul Alam also addressed the function as the special guests with Poet Kaium Nizami in the chair. Somodhara Editor Salek Nasir Uddin gave welcome speech.
