Solo album of Shusmita Anis

Launching ceremony of new solo album of Nazrul singer Shusmita Anis titled Shishirer Sporshey Gantha (Sound of Seasons) based on Nazrul songs was held at a programme at a city hotel recently. The album is presented by New Music Paradigm Co.
With the release of the album, Shusmita Anis starts her musical journey in promoting and popularising Nazrul Sangeet, while following the legacy of the legendary Nazrul singer Feroza Begum.
The niece of the Nazrul legend, Shusmita dedicates the album to her loving memory. She presents an array of ten Nazrul songs in this album.
Asaduzzaman Noor MP, Minister for Cultural Affairs was present as the chief guest in the programme, while M Asafuddowlah, former secretary and former editor of The Bangladesh Today was also present as the special guest on the occasion.
Music director Ibrar Tipu composed music of the album. The album was supervised by renowned tabla player Syed Meher Hossain.
Born in a musical family, Shusmita Anis, the niece and devoted disciple of the legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Feroza Begum, was trained by her aunt from the age of five. She has specialisation in Nazrul Sangeet and modern Bengali songs, especially those tuned by her uncle, the legendary composer Kamal Das Gupta.
Shusmita Anis has been performed regularly in Bangladesh Television (BTV) from an early age. She was a child artist in BTV and won the first prize in the annual national competition on performing arts Notun Kuri in 1976, organised and broadcasted by BTV. Her first three music albums were released under the direction of Feroza Begum. Her first solo album was of contemporary Bengali songs.
Shusmita Anis studied Graphic Design in the USA. On completion of her studies, Shusmita settled in America. In 2009, she returned to Bangladesh to pursue a career in business management.
But she did not miss any opportunity to practice singing and learning from her aunt Feroza Begum until she became critically ill.
