Solid SC of Sri Lanka beat Kolkata Mohammedan SC by 2-1 goals in the opening Group-A match of the eight-team Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football Tournament at MA Aziz Stadium here on Wednesday.
Kolkata Mohammedan dominated the first half by 1-0 goal.
Forward Taurus Tecompleh Manneh put Kolkata Mohammedan ahead in the 38th minute by a left footer from six-yard box flicking the ball over opponent goalie (1-0).
Midfielder AO Shola leveled the margin for Solid SC in the 47th minutes by a left footer from his solo effort after beating two opponent defenders (1-1).
Midfielder S Ganaruban scored the match-winning goal for Solid SC in the 88th minute.
Medio Vrje Figurado took a free kick from right flank, Kolkata defender Monirul Mondal tried to clear the ball in the goalmouth melee and Ganaruban tapped in the ball home from close (2-1).
Earlier in the 17th minute, Kolkata Mohammedan defender Kareem Omolaja Nurain took a right footer, which returned to play touching the left post and finally Lankan defender cleared the ball.
After conceding goal in the first half, Solid SC made some quick counter attacks, but Kolkata MSC defended their castle brilliantly.
