A Software Engineer of a private company allegedly committed suicide over a family dispute in the city’s Mohammadpur area on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Mehedi Hasan, 28, from Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha district, police said.
Sumit Kumar Shaha, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mohammadpur Police Station, said, ” Mehedi committed suicide by hanging with rope to the window of his rented flat on the fourth floor of House No 14/5 at Basila Para.”
Mehedi might have committed suicide due to mental depression as he was detached from the family after holding marriage against the opinion of the relatives in March this year, the police official said.
We have interrogated his wife Israt Jahan in this connection, the SI said.
The body was sent to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) morgue for an autopsy, he said.
We will be clear about the incident after receiving the postmortem report, the SI said.
