Social movement for preventing corruption stressed

Speakers at the monthly meeting of District Corruption Prevention Committee (DCPC) here on Sunday evening stressed launching an effective social movement involving every citizen to prevent corruption.
They put emphasis on educating students of different educational institutions about the value of honesty to inspire them in becoming patriotic citizens for building a corruption-free Bangladesh.
The DCPC with the assistance of District Combined Office of the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) and RDRS Bangladesh, a reputed NGO, arranged the meeting at Rangpur Shahittya Parisat auditorium in the city.
The NGO assisted in arranging the meeting under its Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project being implemented with German Development Cooperation (GIZ) funding under assistance of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
In the beginning, members of the DCPC greeted and welcomed newly appointed president of the organisation Professor Mozammel Haque with wreaths before beginning formal activities of the meeting.
Professor Mozammel Haque presided over the meeting while general secretary of DPCP and a valiant freedom fighter Akbar Hossain moderated it.
Members of DCPC Dr Nasima Akhter, journalist Mamun Islam, Khademul Islam Bosunia, Banomali Paul, Advocate Zakia Sultana Choiti and district manager of JRCP Project Ershad M Russel addressed the meeting.
The meeting discussed the upcoming coordination meeting of the district and upazila level corruption prevention committees scheduled to be held at Begum Rokeya auditorium of RDRS Bangladesh in the city on August 19 next.
