Speakers at an anti-corruption planning meeting have stressed for launching social movement involving the common people, including young generations, for preventing corruption from the society.
The Ward No-4 unit of Community Policing Forum of Mominpur union under Sadar upazila organised the meeting on Wednesday with assistance of RDRS Bangladesh at Chandkuthi Government Primary School in the district.
The meeting was arranged under the Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project being implemented with German Development Cooperation (GIZ) funding with assistance of Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
With President of Ward No-4 unit of the Community Policing Forum of
Mominpur union Shahinur Islam Shahin in the chair, former Chairman of the union Mahbubur Rahman attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Members of the Community Policing Forum Dulu Mian, Shyamol Deb,
Moniruzzaman and Lal Mian, its Advisers Azizul Islam, Nurul Haque, addressed the meeting as special guests.
Upazila Manager of the JRCP Project of RDRS Bangladesh Tahmina Akhter discussed on anti-corruption and community policing activities and draft annual action plan on anti-corruption activities to be conducted in the area this year.
Filed Facilitator of the JRCP Project of RDRS Bangladesh Azim Ali moderated the meeting participated by members of the Community Policing Forum for Ward No-4, local community leaders, civil society members and elite.
The speakers narrated the present situation on ongoing anti-corruption activities, child marriage, gambling, mugging, drug abuse and other social crimes in the area with suggestions for preventing those.
They discussed on the draft action plan for conducting anti-corruption activities by Ward No-4 unit of Chandanpat union unit of Community Policing Forum this year and endorsed the same after discussion.
The chief guest stressed for eradicating social crimes including child marriage, dowry, gambling, drug abuse and stressed for launching social movement to prevent corruption to further accelerate the pace of national development.
He stressed for building moral character and anti-corruption mentality of school students and motivating them for taking part in social welfare activities since student life to improve education and public health situations in the society.
