Launching of a vigorous social movement, involving every conscious citizen, has become a need of the time, to save the young generations from the aggression of drug abuse for building a drug free society.
Officials, experts, teachers and civil society members expressed the opinion at a discussion arranged at BIAM Laboratory School and College premises in the city yesterday.
The District Narcotics Control Department (DNCD) with assistance of the district administration organised the discussion in observance of the month-long anti drug campaign and publicity-2017.
The event was arranged with the theme of ‘Let us catch pen leaving drugs to build drug free society’ to create awareness among the young students as well as common people about effects of drug abuse and drug addition to save the youths from ruining their future.

Amiruzzaman and Principal of the reputed educational institution Ahsan Habib addressed the discussion as special guests.
The students, teachers and guardians of the educational institution, public representatives, religious leaders, civil society members and local elite were present.
Deputy Director of the DNCD Dilara Rahman delivered welcome speech narrating the grievous impacts of drug abuse putting maximum emphasis on creating awareness among the young generations against drug addiction for building a drug-free society.
Taking part in the open discussion, the speakers put importance on sensitising the young generations and parents about the catastrophic consequences of generation-killer drug aggression through launching a decisive social movement against drug abuse.
The chief guest discussed various steps taken by the government for preventing drug abuse and called for launching a social movement involving every citizen to save the young generations for their normal growth and flourishing talent.
He put special emphasis on saving the young generations from the curse of drug addiction to ensure their normal growth and flourish talents in congenial atmosphere to turn them into worthy citizens for leading the nation in future.

Presided over by the Deputy Director of Narcotics Control Department Nazmul Kabir, Deputy Commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder attended the programme as chief guest.
