Social movement for challenged people`s welfare underscored

Speakers at a discussion unanimously mentioned the challenged people need social support for their proper rehabilitation and family integration.
They viewed collective efforts of both the public and private organizations have become an urgent need for ensuring their fundamental rights for their social dignity.
Terming the challenged people as an integral part of the society, they put emphasis on mainstreaming them through creating a disabled-friendly atmosphere.
They made these observations yesterday while inaugurating a school and college for the persons with disabilities at Khaddokour under Bagmara upazila of Rajshahi district.
Engineer Enamul Haque, MP, addressed the discussion as chief guest saying the people with special needs aren’t the burden of the society but wealth.
He said they have to be built as worthy citizens. All quarters should come forward towards forging a social movement for welfare of those thereby overall developments of the society will be achieved.
With social worker Boyen Uddin in the chair, Bagmara Upazila Parishad Chairman Jakirul Islam Santu, Bhobaniganj Pourasabha Mayor Abdul Malek, Sweed Bangladesh Representative Kolpona Roy and principal of the college Mofidul Islam also spoke.
Lawmaker Enamul Haque said the present government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina believes in proper rehabilitation and family integration of the persons with disabilities through treatment and vocational training and has been working relentlessly to attain the goal.
He urged the richer-class people and other philanthropists to stand beside the challenged population and also urged the disabled people to make them fit for the jobs for providing minimum services to the service- providers.
