Social awareness on safety measures for using LPG underscored

Energy and Mineral Resources Division Senior Secretary Abu Hena Mohammad Rahmatul Mumin on Thursday termed the Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinder as safe and secure for households and vehicles uses and said the awareness campaign will help the expansion of the bottled gas.  
Presiding over the workshop styled ‘Usage and Safety of LPG Cylinder’ at BPI auditorium in the capital’s Uttara on Thursday, he said the ministry has taken initiative for the first time to enhance the skills of officials related to LPG operations like Bashundhara Group at private level.
Rahmatul Mumin also appraised private companies including Bashundhara Group to cooperate with the ministry’s initiative for social awareness campaigns on LPG usage.
Experts have emphasised on increasing social awareness on safety measures for using liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
Addressing the seminar, they also mentioned that companies have to come forward to reduce the wrong message about cylinder usages.
Bangladesh Petroleum Institute (BPI) organised the seminar on safety measures of the LPG cylinder for the first time where officials of Bashundhara LPG participated.
BPI Director Mahbuba Farzana, Chief Explosive Inspector Shamsul Alam, Explosive Inspector Abdul Hannan, Bashundhara Group Human Resource Department Head Capt (retd) Shaikh Ehsan Reza, Business Development Head ZM Ahmed Prince and Bashundhara LPG General Manager Jakaria Jalal were present in the meeting.
Chief Explosive Inspector Shamsul Alam, Explosive Inspector Abdul Hannan and Bashundhara LPG General Manager Jakaria Jalal took part in the workshop as trainers.
Bashundhara Group Human Resource Department Head Shaikh Ehsan Reza said the state-owned BPI involvement in awareness programme is very significant for the private sector to maintain a standard in social awareness campaigns across the country.
Citing explosive department report, General Manager Jakaria Jalal claimed that there is no accident happened so far due to LPG cylinders rather than human mistakes during its usage.
Jalal also mentioned that Bashundhara LPG has introduced free servicing for customers under the safety campaign.
