The Snowtex Outerwear Ltd, one of the renowned export oriented apparel manufacturers in Bangladesh, has been awarded with ‘Occupational Health and Safety Good Practice Award-2017′ by the Government of Bangladesh for maintaining high safety of workers and workers’ health standards in the factories at a function held at the Krishibid Institute of Bangladesh in the city on Saturday.
A total of 10 readymade garment factories got the award at the function arranged by the Ministry of Labour and Employment to observe the National Day on Occupational Health and Safety.
Sarkar Mohammad Khaled, Managing Director of Snowtex Outerwear Ltd., received the award from State Minister of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Mujibul Haque Chunnu.
Canadian high commissioner in Dhaka Benoit Préfontaine, Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Employment Afroza Khan, Bangladesh Employers’ Federation president Kamran T Rahman, Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association president Md Siddiqur Rahman, officer-in-charge of ILO Bangladesh Gagan Rajbhandari, and Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association president Salim Osman were, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The other factories that got the award were: Wisdom Attires, Fakir Fashion, Knit Concern, Hop Lun Apparels, Square Fashion, Ecotext, Tarashimo Apparels, Vielatex and AKH Eco Apparels.
Sarkar Mohammad Khaled, MD of Snowtex Outerwear Limited,in a statement said the award was a great recognition for the whole Snowtex family. “We are now more inspired to maintain high safety and workers’ health standards in our factories”, he added.
Snowtex Outerwear Limited,a prominent name of green apparel manufacturing industry, started its journey in the year of 1998 as a buying house. In the first phase, Snowtex started its 1st joint venture factory named Snowtex Apparels Limited in the year of 2005 with Berne Apparel, a US work wear manufacturer/supplier.
In second phase, Snowtex started its 2nd factory named Cut N Sew Limited as a joint venture with the same customer in 2008.
As per of the company’s commitment to build a green factory building Snowtex Outerwear Limited launched its production in February 2014 in a 450,000 sft ecstasy eco- friendly factory in Dhamrai, Savar.
Now Snowtex is a family of more than 10000 Dynamic Members.
World renowned brands like- Berne Apparel, Decathlon, Richlu, M&S, Best Seller, C&A, VF Asia, Camaieu, Debenhams, Toray International, Esprit, Kaufland, Columbia Sportswear, Canada Sportswear, Alphabroder, Mango and Gloria Jeans are the buyers of Snowtex OuterwearLimited. The company produces all types of jacket, casual wear, sportswear and bottom for reputed brands labels.
The company has achieved a lot of certification like- WRAP, BSCI, SEDEX, GVS, C-TPAT, DECATHLON, ALLIANCE & ACCORD, LEED by USGBC, ETC.
The company also awarded AB – Best improved factory award and BERNE – Factory of the year award sixconsecutive year from 2012- 2017.
