Police have recovered the valuables of a foreign female teacher of Asian University for Women (AUW) from Riazuddin Bazar area of the port city on Thursday night within 24-hour of snatching of those.
The law enforcers also detained the alleged mugger Nagar Pandit, 26, along
with a laptop, ipad and two credit cards, and seized a CNG-run auto-rickshaw used for snatching.
Police said, a group of muggers snatched a bag from AUW teacher Dina Hanson Macklin, also a citizen of the Unites States, while she was waiting for bus in front of a shop on Zakir Hossain Road in Khulshi Police Station on Wednesday night.
A laptop, an ipad, a cell phone, a US driving licence, two credit cards and Tk 7,000 in cash were in the bag.
Talking to reporters at a press conference, deputy assistant commissioner of Chittagong Metropolitan Police M Shawkat Ali said acting on tip-off, a police team launched a drive in Riazuddin Bazar on Thursday night and recovered the laptop, ipad and two credit cards.
Police will continue their drive to recover the rest valuables, he added.
