A spotted deer that was smuggled from Sundarban forest was recovered alive by the forest guards from Kanainagar village area within Chandpai union under Mongla Upazila in the district on Tuesday noon. .
It is learnt from Awlad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Chila forest patrol outpost under Chandpai Forest Range in the Eastern Division of Sundarban forest that acting on a secret information that an alive deer of the forest was being smuggled out from Kanainagar, an adjacent village of Sundarban forest a team of the forest guards raided the area But as soon as the forest guards reached there the alleged smugglers fled away leaving the deer there. Then the villagers caught the deer and handed over it to the forest guards. Later it was taken to Chila forest office and it was released in the forest through Karamjal forest office in the Eastern Division of the forest after it was given proper treatment.
