Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT) is the first design based university of this region and continuing its academic activities with the approval of the Government and University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) since 2003 with good reputation.
The university is conducting its educational activities at the Main-campus Uttara, City Campus Lalmatia, Dhaka and permanent campus at Kalma, Savar. These campuses are approved by the UGC. A cautionary circular has been published by the UGC about some of the private universities conducting educational activities at different unauthorized campuses. Lists of names of such universities have been published in different newspaper in which the name of Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology has also been included.
It may be mentioned that Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology does not have any campus at Kalayanpur and no academic activities are conducted there. In a letter to UGC regarding clarifying this issue was given on 9th September 2014. The UGC authority gave the reply on the same day, withdrawing the name of the University from the cautionary list published by UGC in the daily newspapers.
The university published a rejoinder in daily newspapers about the withdrawal of the name of the university from the list of UGC. It has been noticed with great regret that some vested quarter are trying to defame the image of the University in different media by publishing misleading reports. It may be mentioned that a corrected list can be found in the UGC’s website: www.ugc.gov.bd on its notice board.
All concerned are earnestly requested not to be misguided and requested to contact with the private university section of UGC or university authority for any further clarification.
