Commemorating the people who had lost their lives in the Jagannath Hall tragedy on October 15, 1985, a monument named ‘Smriti October’ was inaugurated on Saturday on the premises of October Smriti Bhawan at Jagannath Hall of Dhaka University (DU).
Built with the cooperation from Jagannath Hall Alumni Association (JHAA), the monument was inaugurated by DU vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique.
Presided over by JHAA president Kanutosh Majumder, the inaugural function was addressed by Jagannath Hall provost Prof Dr Asim Sarker, Pankaz Debnath, MP and DU senate member ASM Bahalul Mizan.
