‘Smriti October Monument’, built in the memory of those killed in the Jagannath Hall tragedy, was inaugurated on the dormitory premises at Dhaka University (DU) on Saturday.
DU Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddeque opened the memorial as the chief guest, reports UNB.
Pankaj Debnath MP and Jagannath Hall provost AsimSarkar were, among others, present on the occasion.
On October 15, 1985, total 39 people, including 26 students and 13 guests, were killed as the roof of a one-story building of the dormitory collapsed.
