Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said that the government will lower the prices of fuel oil again in January next year.
“But the prices will go down by a small margin this time,” he mentioned.
“The prices of fuel oil increased in the international market this December. So, the rate of reduction will not be much,” he told reporters at his office on Wednesday.
“We will finalise the decision after discussing the matter with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he added.
“Our economy appears to be doing very well although we have six more months of this fiscal year in hand. Our GDP will be 7.5 per cent by the end of the year,” said the minister. Earlier, the government reduced fuel oil prices on April 24. The price of per litre Octane and petrol was reduced by Tk10 while that of Kerosene and Diesel by Tk three per litre.
The price of diesel and kerosene is now Tk 65 a litre, octane Tk 89 and petrol Tk 86. Muhith said, the government is once again going to cut fuel prices in line with the international market so that the economy can benefit from it.
