Police recovered the slaughtered body of a madrasa student from Jela Parishad Market in Kaliganj here in the city on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Raihan, 12, a hifzu student of Talimul Noisha Madrasa.
Jamal Uddin Mir, officer-in-charge of Keraniganj Police Station, said workers of the market spotted the body of Raihan lying in a pool of blood inside the madrasa located on the second and third floors of the market when they came to their workplace around 8:00 am and informed police.
Later, police recovered the body and sent it to Mitford Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The motive behind the killing could not be known immediately, said the OC.
