A slaughtered dead body of the younger brother of an Awami League leader was found yesterday morning near at a gher (Fish Enclosure) at Beel Pabla area under Arongghata police station in Khulna city.
The deceased was identified as Mohidul Islam Bondo, 41, son of late Moktar Hossain, hailed at Deana South para area under Daulatpur police station in the city.
Police and local people quoting the family members said, a gher trader, went towards Beel Pabla area on Sunday evening and on Monday morning at around 8.am local people found the dead body of Mohidul. Being informed by the local people, police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and sent it to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) morgue for autopsy.
Several injury marks were found on the dead body of Mohidul and he might be slaughtered, according to the police.
Mohidul was the younger brother of the general secretary of Daulatpur Thana unit Awami League of Khulna city.Md. Shahidul Islam Bondo.
It is mentionable that open house day meeting regarding the law and order situation was going on in Daulatpur police station from 8 am to 11.50 am.
Officers in charge of Arongghata and Daulatpur police stations Nasim Khan and Anwar hossain respectively ascertained the matter of the murder.
The cause of the murder could not be ascertained immediately, police said.
On condition of anonymity, a trader of Deana area said, due to deterioration of law and order situation, killings, theft. Robbery, snatching and drug peddling have increasing throughout Khulna city and also at nine upazila areas of Khulna district.
