Police on Saturday arrested a local leader of Sramik League and three others in connection with rape and torture of a young woman at Badurtala in Sadar upazila of the district.
Officer-in-charge of Bogra Police Station Emdad Hossain said they arrested Tufan Sarkar, convenor of Sramik League of Bogra city unit, and three others on Friday night.
Quoting locals, he said Tufan took the girl to his house alluring her of arranging admission in a local college and then raped her.
Later, the ruling party men allegedly beat up the girl up and shaved her head when she went to local councilor Rumki’s house seeking justice, he said.
They are taking preparation to file a case accusing eight people, including Tufan and local councilor Rumki, the OC added.
