Skills of evidence-based agriculture reporting stressed

Farming Future Bangladesh (FFB) arranged a virtual two daylong training programme titled “Knowledge Sharing and Capacity building on Agricultural Media Reporting” on Tuesday for the agricultural journalists of the northern Rangpur Division of Bangladesh.
More than 25 journalists from print and electronic media in the Rangpur division were present at this two-day-long event. During the sessions, agriculture experts, academia, scientist, journalists, and communication experts shared their knowledge on the role of media and various aspects of agricultural reporting on agricultural modernization and innovation, agri-biotechnology, genetic engineering, climate change, nutrition, and food security. The focus of this training is to enhance the skills of evidence-based reporting for better understanding and knowledge sharing of agricultural innovations and agri-biotech issues.
The speakers of the programme were Md. Arif Hossain, CEO and Executive Director of the FFB, Dr. Jiban Krishna Biswas, Executive Director, KGF (Krishi Gobeshona Foundation), Dr. Ahmad Salahuddin, Senior Associate Scientist in Healthier Rice Deployment in IRRI (International Rice Research Institute), Dr. Md. Tofazzal Islam, Professor and Director of Institute of Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, BSMMU, M. Abdul Momin, Senior Communication Officer Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) and Reaz Ahmad, Executive Editor, Dhaka Tribune. The journalists were enthusiastic throughout the event and shared their own experiences with the experts. Md. Arif Hossain, CEO and Executive Director of the FFB, started the training programme by thanking all the participants, panelists, and other dignitaries.
