Skilled workforces for accelerating dev stressed

Educationists here stressed on creating more skilled workforce enriched with technical and vocational education among the young generations to accelerate national development.
They made the opinion yesterday at the day-long ‘Skills Competition-2016’ organised by Rangpur Institute of Engineering and Technology (RIET) under the ‘Skills and Training Enhancement Project (STEP) on its campus in the city. Students of different polytechnic and vocational training and educational institutions of the city set up stalls displaying their various technical, vocational and engineering projects and innovations. Project Director of the STEP Project of the Directorate of Technical Education under the Ministry of Education Mohammad Imran attended the function as the chief guest. Principal of RIET Engineer AEM Abdul Hannan Mandal, its Director Sahabul Hossain and Adviser Akhterul Karim Pramanik addressed the concluding ceremony as special guests.
Principals, Headmasters and Heads of different departments of the participating vocational and technical educational institutions of the city, students, guardians, civil society members and local elite were present.
Principal Abdul Hannan Mandal said technical and vocational education already became popular with increasing admission rate in recent years to produce skilled workforces like engineers, planners and architects to build a developed Bangladesh.
The chief guest narrated importance of ICT-based science, technical and vocational education to ensure time- befitting education for turning the huge population into human resources in accelerating national advancement in the competitive 21st century.
