Skill enhancement training for light engineering workforce inaugurated in Bogura

The USAID funded Feed the Future Bangladesh “Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia Mechanization Extension Activity (CSISA MEA)”has been working in Bogura, Jashore, Faridpur and Cox’s Bazar since October 2019.
To improve the technical skills of employees of small and medium-light engineering companies manufacturing agricultural machines and spare parts in Bogura CSISAMEA, in partnership with TMSS, is working 24 enterprises with technical skills training.
To initiate this programme, CSISA MEA, with TMSS, organized an inaugural workshop on 11th October 2020 at Hotel Momo Inn, Bogura. During this workshop the 24 enterprises, TMSS and CSISAMEA worked together to plan the training program and discussed other support CSISAMEA.
The training launching event was presided over by Prof. Dr. Hosne-Ara-Begum, Executive Director, TMSS and Timothy David Rasel, Chief of Party, CSISA MEA. In addition, Project Manager Ansar A Siddique and Training Coordinator PVL Bharathi provided information about CSISA-MEA’s activities.
The event was attended by 35 participants at the venue and a further 65 participants are joining virtually from locations both within Bangladesh and overseas.
In support of the government´s initiative to develop the manufacturing capacity of the light engineering industry and the mechanization of agricultural production, CSISA MEA aims at developing the capacity of the agricultural machinery manufacturing industry to manufacture modern labor and cost-saving agricultural machines.
This will be through the provision of skills training to their staff and by improving their access to modern manufacturing machines and processes, new markets, and investors and financial services.
