A total of six journalists – two under Bangla category, two in English category and two under online category- received Dhaka University Journalists Association (DUJA) Best Reporting Award-2021.
DU Vice-chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor ASM Maksud Kamal handed over the awards at a programme held at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) Auditorium on DU campus.
Each awardee received a certificate, crest and prize money, reports BSS.
The award recipients (print category: Bangla) are Asif Hawlader of Prothom Alo and Arefin Soriyat of Daily Ittefaq while Obaidur Rahman Sohan of New Age and Mohammad Rayhan of Daily Sun received the award under English Print Category.
Sirajul Islam Rubel of Bangla Tribune and Al Sadi Bhuiyan of Jagonews24.com received the award under online category.
Earlier, Freedom fighter and Ekushey Padak-winning journalist Ajay Dasgupta presented the keynote speech at the seminar titled “Hundreds years of DU: Achievements and expectations of DU Journalist’ Association”.
Also, at the programme, the new DUJA executive committee with Mamun Tusher of Alokito Bangladesh and Sirajul Islam Rubel of Daily Star at its head, took charge for 2022 sessions for one year.
Among others, DUJA founding members Aftab Uddin Manik and Mashiur Rahman, its chief election commissioner Borhanul Haque Samrat, outgoing president Mehedi Hasan and general secretary Sazzadul Kabir were present at the programme.
