The authorities have decided to ensure six-tier security measures in and around the Central Shaheed Minar on February 21 to observe International Mother Language Day peacefully.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam came up with this information while talking to journalists at Central Shaheed Minar on Saturday after inspecting the security arrangements.
Tight security measures have been taken for all programs centering the day in capital, he said.
The commissioner said there would be no shortage of security for the wreath-laying at the Shaheed Minar.
He said that a route map has been drawn for the movement in the area of ??Shaheed Minar. No bags will be allowed inside the venue as part of the security measures. Besides, “CCTV cameras will be put in place inside and outside areas surrounding the police checkpoints.
Apart from uniformed police, plainclothes police, bomb disposal unit, Detective Branch (DB) of Police and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) will also be deployed to check any untoward incident at the Shaheed Minar on the International Mother Language Day.
