Superintendents of Police (SP) and officials of equal rank from six districts including Dhaka have been transferred ahead of the fourth phase of the Upazila Council election.
The Election Commission (EC) has not objected to the order by the Home Ministry on Thursday.
The SPs of Jessore, Khulna, Noakhali, Lalmonirhat, Barisal and Dhaka were interchanged.
Noakhali SP Anisur Rahman is set to replace Jessore SP Joydeb Kumar who was made deputy commissioner and transferred
to Dhaka Metropolitan Police. Khulna SP Golam Rouf was also made deputy commissioner and placed in Barisal Metropolitan. Habibur Rahman, who was SP of Lalmonirhat, will take Rouf’s place in Khulna.
Dhaka’s Deputy Commissioner Ilias Sharif has been posted to Noakhali.
Barisal Metropolitan Deputy Commissioner TM Mujahidul Islam was made SP and sent to Lalmonirhat.
Forty-three Upazilas will vote to elect their chairmen and vice-chairmen on Sunday.
Polling in 294 Upazilas have been completed in three phases. The fifth phase covering 74 Upazilas will be held on Mar 31 and the rest will go to vote in May.
