At least 13 persons including six in a family were killed and several others critically injured in separate road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Laxhmipur, At least seven persons including six members of a family were killed when a truck rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at west Mandaria in Sadar Upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shah Alam, 45, his wife Nasima Akhter, 38, his sister Rokeya Begum, 29, mother Shamsunnahar, 60, son Rubel, 17, grandchild Amit, 3, and the CNG-run vehicle driver Nuru, 38.
All of them were the inhabitants of Basu Dhuhita area under Chandraganj union of Lakshmipur Sadar upazila.
Md Abdullah, Deputy Director of Laxmipur Fire Service Station confirmed the matter to media that the deceased Shah Alam and his family members were on the way to hospital to visit his injured son and local Chhatra league leader Nadim Mahmud Antor but they faced tragic incident.
“Bodies were recovered from the spot. Afterwards, the bodies were sent to Laxhmipur Sadar Hospital morgue,” said Shahjahah Khan, Inspector at Chandraganj Highway Police Outpost.
In Brahmanbaria, about two auto-rickshaw passengers were killed in a road accident in Mirhati area under Sadar upazila on Wednesday.
Identity of the deceased could not be known instantly.
The accident took place when a speeding bus rammed a battery-run auto-rickshaw on the Cumilla-Sylhet Regional Highway at 2 pm, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
Md Hossain Sarker, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khatihata Highway Police Station told the matter to media.
In Gaibandha, two people were killed when a passenger bus hit a auto-rickshaw in Gaibandha’s Gobindaganj Upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Ikramul Hossain, 25, son of one Abdus Samad and Azhar Ali, 50, son of one Abedin.
Afzal Hossain, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Gobindaganj Police told the news media.
In Mymensingh, one college teacher named Saiful Islam, 40, was killed when a truck hit him at Kandur Bazar under the Fulbaria upazila of the district.
Sheikh Khabirul Islam, Officer in-Charge (OC) of Fulbaria Police confirmed the news.
In Moulvibazar, A motorcyclist named Ripon Ahmed, 22, was killed when a tractor hit his bike in Barolekha upazila of the district.
The accident occurred at municipal area around 10 pm on Tuesday.
