At least six more persons were killed and several others critically injured in separate road crashes in the country on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
In Dhaka, a student of Dhaka Polytechnic Institute was killed in a road crash in city’s Tejgaon area. The accident took place in front of a petrol pump around 11.50 pm on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Nazmul Huda, 22, son of Sirajul Islam, from Santhia upazila of Pabna.
“A stone-laden truck rammed Nazmul’s motorbike, leaving him and another rider of his bike injured at night,” Abdul Quddus, Duty Officer of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station, told media.
The critically injured Nazmul Huda was declared dead at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Huda was a resident student of Zahir Raihan Dormitory of the institute in City.
In Chattogram, a truck driver named Abdullah Al Mamun (40) was killed in a road accident when a bus hit his truck on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway at Uttor Bashbariya of Sitakund upazila of the district.
The accident occurred on Wednesday.
The bus driver Abdullah Al Mamun was the son of the deceased Hashem Sheikh of Faridpur Sadar.
Kumira Highway Police Outpost Inspector Abdullah confirmed the news to media.
In Thakurgaon, an elderly woman named Rabeya (60) was killed in a road accident when her relative’s bike lost control on the street in Pirganj Upazila of the district. The injured were identified as Ashif Iqbal, were injured in the incident. The accident occurred on the Pirganj-Jaborhat road on Wednesday. Deceased Rabeyatr was the resident of Chandaria village.
Bazlur Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pirganj Police Station OC confirmed the news to media.
In Lalmonirhat, a truck driver named Delwar Hossain (23) was killed in a road crash when another running truck rammed him in Patgram of the district.
The accident took place at Baura Railgate area on Wednesday on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari Highway.
The deceased Delwar Hossain was the son of Abdul Mannan of Rangpur district. Prosun Kanti Das, Officer in-Charge of Hatiabandha Highway Police told the news to media.
In Habiganj, a pedestrian named Bishnupad Das, 50, was killed in a road accident when a Nochimon rammed him in Nabiganj upazila of the district.
The accident occurred on the Karimganj-Marculi Road in Halimpur on Tuesday night. Bishupad was a resident of Halimpur village.
Nabiganj Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Iqbal Hossain told news to media. In Naogaon, an old man named Vanghe Urao (60) was killed when a tractor hit him on the street in Potnitola upazila of the district.
