Six more killed in road crashes

At least six more persons were killed and several others injured in separate road crashes across the country on Wednesday.
In Cumilla, three women, including two college students, were killed in a triangular collision among two microbes and a sand laden truck in Chandina upazila of Cumilla.
More than 11 people were injured in this incident.
The accident took place around 2pm at Gobindapur under Chandina upazila of the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Popi Akhter, 18, daughter of one Abdul Wahab from Premu village in Debidwar upazila, Mariam Akhter Munmun, 20, from the same village, and Lovli Akhter, 17, from Durgapur village in Manoharganj upazila of Comilla.
Popi and Munmun both were HSC level students of Chandiha Mahila Degree College.
Haradhan Chandra Das, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Mainamati Highway Police Station said that one of the microbuses was
dropping passengers, while another microbus was crossing when the truck hit both of them. One person died on the spot, while two college girls died on way to hospitals.
The microbuses were seized, but driver managed to flee.
In Jhenaidah, a old man named Moslem Mandal ,70, was killed in a road accident when an motorbike rammed him at Chandulali village under Jhenidah sadar upazila.
The accident occurred on Wednesday morning. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Emdadul Haq Sheikh confirmed the news.
In Madaripur, an elderly man, named Haleem Bepari, 70, was killed in a road crash when a truck struck him near Kamaldi Filling Station in Rajoir upazila of Madaripur.
The incident took place on the Tekerhat-Madaripur Road at 11:30 pm on Wednesday.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bhanga Highway Police Mahfuzur Rahman told the matter to media.
In Gopalganj, a child named Rifat Sheikh, 10, was killed in a road accident when a bus hit him in Kashiani of Gopalganj district.
The accident occurred at Ratuail area on the Dhaka-Khulna Highway under Kasiani Upazila of the district. Kashiani Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Azizur Rahman told the news of accident.
