Six more killed in road crashes

At least six more people, including four in Noakhali, were killed and many others critically injured including Ekushey Padak award-winning singer Khurshid Alam in separate road accidents across the country on Saturday.
In Noakhali, at least four persons, including two of a family, and a college student were killed when a passenger bus rammed a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw in Noakhali’s Begumganj on Saturday afternoon.
The deceased were identified as Khadiza Begum, 40, her daughter Kamrunnahar Poly, 24, Wahiduzzaman Shakil, 19, and Raju Ahmed, 35.
The incident occurred at 3:00pm near Ekhlaspur Bazar on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway.
Local sources said that the accident took place when a speedy bus hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the main road of Eklashpur Bazaar around 300pm, leaving three persons dead on the spot and one injured. The Injured was first taken to Hospital and later he succumbed to injury.
Firoz Alam Mollah, Officer in-Charge of Begumganj Police Station confirmed the matter to media.
In Sirajganj, a pedestrian named Raz Babu, 25, was killed when a truck rammed him in Hatikumrul Gol Chattar area under Solanag upazila of the district on Saturday morning.
The deceased Raz was a resident of Rahimabad area in Ullapara upazila, said Hatikumri Highway Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Abdul Kader Zilani.
In Bogra, Ekushey Padak award-winning singer Khurshid Alam was seriously injured when a truck hit his private car on the Dhaka-Rangpur Highway in Bogra town early Saturday.
He was undergoing treatment at Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital and later he was referred to Dhaka for better treatment by air-ambulance.
Police are trying to detain the truck, SM Badiuzzaman, Officer-in-Charge of Bogra Sadar Police Station, told media.
