Six more killed in gunfights

Two suspected drug peddlers and four robbers were killed in ‘gunfights’ in Natore, Narayanganj, Chapainawabganj, Jashore and Narail districts on Tuesday.
In Natore, drug peddler Ahadul, 38, was killed in a “gunfight” with members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Lalpur upazila around 2:30am, reports our local correspondent quoting Commander Major Shibli Mostafa of RAB-5.
One foreign pistol, a magazine with two rounds of bullets, two empty cartridges and 57 bottles of phensidyl were recovered from the spot.
In Narayanganj, a man was killed in a reported gunfight with the members of RAB in Sonargaon upazila. The deceased, Alamgir Hossain alias Biyar Alamgir, 36, was a top drug peddler of the district, said Major Ashik Billah, Captain (acting) of RAB-11.
One foreign pistol, two bullets and about 2,000 pieces of Yaba also were recovered from the spot, the official said.
In Chapainawabganj, a suspected robber was killed in a “gun battle” with RAB in Mohammadpur area of Shibganj upazila, our local correspondent reports. The deceased was identified as Faruk Hossain, 35, hailing from Shibganj upazila, said Abu Khayer, Additional Superintendent of Police and Deputy Company Commander of Chapainawabganj camp.
The elite force recovered firearms and ammunitions from the spot.
In Narail, a suspected robber was killed in a “gunfight” at Kachubaria village in Lohagara upazila, reports our local correspondent quoting Officer-in-Charge of Lohagara Police Station Prabir Kumar Biswas.
Identity of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.
In Jashore, two alleged robbers were killed in a “gunfight” between two groups of robbers on Pulerhat-Rajganj road in Gangulia Jamtola area of Monirampur upazila in the morning, reports media.
The identity of the deceased could not be known immediately.
Hearing gunshots, Sub-inspector Ainuddin, In-Charge of Khedapara Police Camp, went to the spot and found two bodies, said Mokarram Hossain, OC of Monirampur Police Station.
