The first consignment of Metrorail (Mass Rapid Transit) bogies has reached Uttara in Dhaka. The shipment arrived in the city two days before the scheduled time.
The Metrorail bogies reached the Diabari jetty in Uttara around 4:15 pm on Wednesday.
The coaches will be taken to the metro rail depot in Uttara from there on April 23, a DMTCL official said.
Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited MAN Siddique confirmed the news to the media saying that in the first consignment, there are six bogies of Metrorail.
Though the carriages were scheduled to arrive on April 23, the transport of these bogies started from the port of Kobe, Japan on March 4 by a ship called MV SPM Bangkok.
Sources said, the integrated tests of MRT Line 6 will be carried out before formal operation. Trial runs will also be done after the integrated test.
