Six matches of Bangabandhu Inter-School Basketball decided in opener

Six matches of the Bangabandhu Inter-School Basketball tournament were decided on the opening day (Thursday) at Dhanmondi Basketball gymnasium in the city.
In the day’s opening matches, Saint Joseph High School beat Quantum Cosmo School and College by 28-23 points, Ispahani Public School defeated Saint Philips School by 27-23 points, Muslim Academy outclassed Maple Leaf School by 34-24 points, Baliapukur Bidya Niketon overpowered Nicholas School by 18-11 points, Green Herald School beat Scholastica by 31-1 points and Mastermind School defeated Jorpukuria Secondary School by 24-09 points.
Earlier, Youth and Sports Secretary Mohammad Akhter Hossain formally inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
The Bangladesh Basketball Federation has arranged the tournament in order to celebrate the birth centenary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
A total of 16 schools, split into four groups, are taking part in the meet, oranised by Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF).
