At least six persons were killed and 20 others injured in separate road accidents in two districts on Tuesday.
The injured were admitted to different medical college hospitals and clinics for treatment.
In Gopalganj, four persons were killed and 16 others injured when a bus collided head-on with a pickup van near the Pona bus stand at Kashiani of Gopalganj on Tuesday.
The deceased have been identified as pickup van driver Sajahan Sheikh, 45, son of Ruku Sheikh from Mukundupur village, helpers Sohagh Miah, 28, son of Barkat Miah from Bhutpasha village and Nayan Mullah, 25, son of Najrul Miullah from Ratail village under Kashiani and bus passenger Shilpi Samaddar, 50, President of Bagerhat Mahila Parishad.
Officer-in-Charge of Kashiani Police Station Azizur Rahman said that the accident occurred at about 12:45pm when a Pirojpur bound bus collided head-on with a brick laden pickup van, leaving three people dead on the spot and 15 others injured.
Shilpi succumbed to her injuries at Gopalganj General Hospital.
The other injured were sent to Kashiani upazila health complex, Gopalganj General Hospital and Faridpur Medical College Hospital. In Chittagong, two persons were killed and four others injured in a road accident between an oil tanker and a truck in Chhoto Kamaldah area of Mirsarai upazila in Chittagong on Tuesday morning.
The victims were identified as truck driver Md Abdul Kashem from Feni and security guard Md Kashem.
Deputy Assistant Director of Sitakunda Fire Service Md Jasim said the accident took place around 7am when the oil tanker collided with the truck while overtaking each other, leaving one dead on the spot and three others injured.
One of the injured died on the way to hospital.
