Reckless driving: Six killed in road accidents

UNB, Dhaka :Six people were killed and four others injured in separate road accidents in Sylhet, Jessore and Laxmipur districts on Sunday.In Sylhet, two people were killed and three others injured when a bus rammed a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Tetli area of Dakkhin Surma upazila Sunday morning.The deceased were identified as Anfar Ali, 60, a resident of Kazirgaon village and Joynal Abedin, 25, a resident of Mazlispur village of Osmani Nagar upazila.Police said, the accident took place when the speeding bus hit the CNG run auto-rickshaw coming from the opposite direction around 10:00am, leaving Anfar dead on the spot and four others injured.Later, the injured were rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital where Joynal succumbed to his injury.In Jessore, two motorcyclist were killed as a covered van rammed their motorcycle on Khulna-Jessore highway in Padmabil areaThe deceased was identified as Shahin, 31, son of Abul Hossain and Ramzan Ali, 35 son of Mokbul Hossain of the Norendrapur area of the sadar upazila. Police said, accident occurred when the covered van hit the motorcycle carrying Shahin and Ramzan around 11am on the highway, leaving the duo dead on the spot.In Laxmipur, two people were killed and another was injured as a truck knocked them down when they were standing beside the road on Laxmipur-Raypur road in front of District Fisheries office at noon.The deceased was identified as Shakil Ahmed, son of Nasir Ahmed, a resident of Bashikpur village and Azim Hossain, son of Belayet Hossain, a resident of Laharkandi village of the sadar upazila. On information, police recovered the bodies and seized the truck from the spot.
