Six killed in road accidents

UNB, Dhaka :Six people, including a policeman, were killed and 30 others injured in separate road accidents in Natore, Sirajganj and Comilla districts on Thursday night and Friday.In Natore, three people, including a child, were killed and 28 others injured as a Natore-bound bus from Dhaka plunged into a roadside ditch on Banpara-Hatikumrul highway in Baraigram upazila of the district in the afternoon. The identities of the deceased could not be ascertained yet.Police and witnesses said the accident took place around 3:15pm as the bus driver lost control over the steering.The injured were whisked off to Natore Sadar Hospital and local hospitals.In Sirajganj, a Dhaka-bound bus from Faridpur rammed a motorcycle on Bangabandhu Bridge West Link Road at Mulibari intersection in Sadar upazila around 8:30am, leaving two motorcyclists, including a local Jubo Dal leader, dead on the spot.The deceased were identified as Belal Hossain, 34, publicity affairs secretary of Belkuchi upazila unit of Jubo Dal and son of Abdus Sattar of Mukundagachhi village, and Abul Kalam Azad, 44, son of Royal Sarker of Chala Officepara in Belkuchi upazila of the district.The victims were going to the district town when the tragedy struck them.Police seized the bus from Golchattar area in the upazila, said officer-in-charge of Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Aminul Islam.In Comilla, sub-inspector Abdul Quader, 40, of Muradnagar police station hailing from Chandpur district was killed and two constables were injured as a motorcycle they were riding slammed into the railing of the Ghorasal Bridge in Muradnagar upazila on Thursday night. The accident took place in the area around 11pm when the motorcycle the three policemen, including Quader, were ridding hit the railing of Ghorashal Bridge as it lost control over the steering.
