Six killed in Narsingdi road mishap

At least six persons were killed and 22 others injured in a road accident in Narsingdi’s Kandail area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway on Wednesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Mokhles Mia, 55, and Abdul Kadir, 40, from Kuliar Char of Kishoreganj, Abdur Rahman, 50, the driver of the covered van, and his son Rabiul, 20, from village Kandapara, Hena Begum, 30, wife of Ali Akbar from village Amdia, and Sumi, 15, daughter of Anwar Hossain from village Kandail under Narsingdi sadar upazila.
Police and witnesses said that a Dhaka-bound bus from Manohardi was parked at Kandail bus stand, suddenly a covered van hit the bus from behind as its driver lost control over steering.
Consequently, both the bus and the covered van fell into the roadside ditch leaving six persons dead.
Fire Service and Police rushed to the spot and recovered injured people and the bodies.
Among the injured, 10 were admitted to Narsingdi General Hospital. The corpses were sent to the hospital morgue for autopsy.
