Six killed in Munshiganj factory fire 4 officials held

Six workers were suffocated to death when a fire erupted at a six-storied textile factory at Charmuktarpur in Munshiganj Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.
The fire allegedly was originated from a welding section nearby a chemical store in the same floor of Ideal Textile Mills Limited.
Of the deceased, three were identified asNazmul, 20, Israt, 18, and Ujjal, 20. Police detained four officials of the mill, including the General Manager, said Md Zoynul Abedin, In-Charge of Muktarpur River Police Outpost.
So far, firefighters recovered six bodies from the textile mill, said the police official.
The fire originated from the first-floor of the factory building around 10:15am, said Sawkat Ali Joarder, Senior Station Officer of Munshiganj Fire Station.
 “A spark caused the fire at the chemical warehouse, which spread to other parts soon after.”
Four fire-fighting units from Munshiganj and Narayanganj rushed to the spot to put out the blazes, he said.
According to him, the victims did not die from the fire rather suffocated from the fumes of the chemicals. However, the extent of loss could not be known immediately.
Meanwhile, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner Saila Roksana declared compensation Tk 20,000 for each of the victim family.
