Six killed in lightnings

Six people, including a college student, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Manikganj, Bogra, Thakurgaon and Meherpur districts on Sunday.
In Manikganj, a college student was killed when a thunderbolt struck him at Abudanga village in Daulatpur upazila in the afternoon.
The deceased was identified as Manik Miah, 22, a 1st year student of Matilal Degree College and son of Ahmed Ali of the village.
Quoting family members, police said a Manik was hit by lightning around 1pm while bringing cattle home.
He was rushed to Daulatpur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
In Meherpur, a farmer was killed by a lightning strike at Amjhupi village in Sadar upazila.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Majid, son of late Shamsuddin of the village.
Locals said Abdul Majid died on the spot when a thunderbolt struck him while he was working at his paddy field in the afternoon.
In Thakurgaon, two people were killed when they were hit by lightning in separate incidents in Pirganj upazila.
Locals said, Jewel, 26, son of Dabir Uddin of Bhamda village in the upazila,
was killed on the spot when a thunderbolt struck him while catching fish in a pond in the morning.
Besides, Khamir Ali, 45, son of late Ali Mohammad, died being hit by lightning at Bhabanipur village in the upaizla.
In Bogra, two people were killed by lightning in separate incidents in Gabtali upazila.
The deceased were identified as Ratan Miah, 30 of Durgatahata village, and Rahim, 32, of Dupchachia village.
Meanwhile, a housewife was killed and two other people were injured when a wall collapsed on them during rain at Brindabanpara in the town on Sunday morning.
The deceased was identified as Swapna Begum, 40.
